One by one the veterans of the baseball world are dropping back either into the minors or out of the game altogether. This fact has been brought home again by the retirement of Kid Elberfeld by the Washington club. Yet Elberfeld, witht he rest of those who are slipping, can say that he went the route and had his measure of success witht he majors. The Kid always was a fighter, always after a victory. He never quit, and will long be remembered as a player of the jennings type.
